September 11, 2018 - 9/11 Memorial Service for Haywood County at Clyde, NC Fire Department.

Fr. Richard Sutter delivered the closing Benediction for all present and blessed Stones which had names of recent deceased NY First Responders to place in the existing Clyde Fire Department 9/11/2001 Memorial.

Prior to blessing the Memorial Stones Fr. Richard spoke of the 9/11 hero’s as living stones!   He spoke to everyone of a friend from Belmont Abbey College, Jimmy Riches, who as a NYC Firefighter was going up the twin towers to save lives that terrible day. Jim Riches was one of the many hero’s who offered the ultimate sacrifice for others modeling Jesus Christ for us all.  “There is no greater love than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
Fr Richard encouraged all present to look up to the Mountains and draw strength from the Lord - who made heaven and earth!
Psalm 121:1-2
A rainbow formed in the sky as 21 white doves were released in memory of the fallen.  A simple, but powerful sign of God’s presence. “Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Let us all pray for those 9/11 hero’s who offered their lives and remember too those who still mourn the loss of loved ones and friends whose lives were suddenly taken that terrible day of evil... that at the same time brought about the greatest possible good of humanity.  “Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.” Romans 12:21
